The Longboarder Cafe - Oceanside, CA

Last summer my sisters and our friends headed down to Oceanside one weekend to hang out. Oceanside is part of San Diego County and is about a half hour drive from Orange County. The Metrolink and Amtrak also stops at this location. It is a quiet little beach town near Camp Pendleton so you will always see military personnel walking around town. It is a hangout spot for both military and civilians. There are some bars, restaurants, movie theater and little shops but it is a small little town as I mentioned before.

Pretty scene at dusk!

It can be a struggle at times to find a place to eat here when you are with a large group because there are not that many choices and this is on top of trying to get everyone to agree to a certain type of food. We were lucky on this particular day because my brother-in-law happened to remember about this little cafe. I think they mainly cater to the lunch crowd but we caught them about an hour before closing in the late afternoon so we were one of the few parties in there.

Inside view.

We started with some fried zucchini and onion rings. I don't think I had any of this because I don't really like this stuff but I heard it was good.

This place really surprised me because for a little cafe in the middle of Oceanside, I got a really delicious veggie sandwich on wheat bread with tomatoes, avocado and alfalfa sprouts. Plus a side of fruit that was actually very good and it was fresh. So if you happen to be in Oceanside and are looking for a simple place to grab a bite, go here.

The best/cheapest food in Oceanside? The Oceans 11 casino. But you have to be playing cards....
