The Original Pancake House - Aliso Viejo, CA

I hate to admit this but I am not a huge breakfast eater. There was a point in my life when I was doing more weight lifting and made sure that I ate a decent breakfast but aside from that my breakfast eating habits have not been great. When I was younger I use to even skip it all together. Crazy, right? Nowadays, I still only eat a small-ish breakfast during the week. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for breakfast during the week, I have always loved going out to breakfast or brunch on the weekends. There is just something very relaxing about eating breakfast on the weekends. One place that I like to go for breakfast is the Original Pancake House. They are a chain but I think only in California. They have a huge pancake menu. Actually their entire menu selection is just large. If you do decide to come here, I have to warn you that you need to get here early and I mean at the butt crack of dawn because this place gets crowded and the wait is long if you get here after 9am.

I LOVE the waffles here!

This is my favorite kind of waffle. I know it seems like you often see Belgium waffles on this site but I am a huge fan of the flatter "Eggo-type" waffles.

It deserves a closer look!

I like to eat mine covered under a bed of diced apple compote! Yes there IS a waffle under there.

This restaurant is better know for their pancakes but I am not a pancake fan. I couldn't even take a clear photo of this pancake. Sheeshh!

Scrambled eggs with diced ham.

Corn Beef Hash - this is one order. It is humongous! Do not order this unless you are really craving corn beef hash or are really really hungry or have lots of friends with you to help you eat this.

I *am* a big breakfast eater, but, believe it or not, I've never been to the Original Pancake House. I guess I'll have to run Aliso-Wood Canyons so I can be in the neighborhood....

Holy cow, that looks delicious. I am also not big on breakfast during the week, but the weekends I go a little nuts. I'm totally going there next weekend.
