Foodie Dream

When I told people that I was going to Ojai for the weekend they were really jealous and told me that it was a really nice area. I've never been to Ojai, so I was really excited. Naturally, I went on Yelp and did some research on the must try restaurants in this area. Ojai has a lot of amazing restaurant but I picked this one because the locals remarked that not only did they serve amazing food but had great atmosphere. I'm sold. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was even nicer than what I had imagined. A really nice surprise. Let me take you on a tour of this lovely restaurant.

They had a enclosed patio area in the back of the restaurant that looked out into this lovely little garden. It was so serene with the sound of trickling water from the fountain. This is definitely a very romantic place.

We ate almost this entire basket of bread. It was warm, chewy, nutty tasting...just amazing even without butter.

Arugula, Pear and Candied Pecan Salad - a really good bitter salad. Made with local organic seasonal ingredients. Just magnificent!

Crab Cake - this was really good but I've had better. Doesn't make this any less good but I just like more of a crust on my crab cakes. This cake was more moist than crispy. That's just a personal preference.

Steak and Potatoes with Sauteed Veggie for my meat lover. The steak is pretty good.

I ordered the Grilled Fish Sampler (Halibut, Scallop and Salmon) with wild rice and streamed veggies. This dish is originally served with a cream sauce but I asked for something non-dairy and they recommended this mango salsa. This meal was just heavenly. The grilled fish had the most amazing smoky taste and the mango salsa really balanced this dish out. One of the most delicious meals I've had in a long time.

We didn't want this meal to end so we ordered dessert. Oh did we order dessert. Let's have some tea first. This Jasmine Green Tea (Stash) was aromatic and amazing.

Mousse Trio (Coffee, Vanilla and Chocolate) - this was amazing, especially the berry sauce that lined the plate. The sauce really went well with the richness of this dish.

Vanilla Ice Cream

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake! Wow, this was really delicious. Especially that sauce. I still dream about this cake. It was so good but really rich...probably would have been a good idea to share this. Yum!

In the words of Arnold...I'll be back! Even if it means that I will have to come back and run the Ojai Marathon again or maybe just come back to "vacation" like normal people do. What a concept right? :o)
