Ostrich Land - Solvang, CA

I have never seen an ostrich up come and personal...that is until now! Somewhere in Solvang is a farm full of ostriches running around...hungry ostriches! Don't worry, they are not running around free. There is a fence that separates you from them but believe me they have more open space than you.

Feeding ostriches is fun but you have to follow the rules because these are large creatures and it is not like feeding a dog or cat.

These ostriches love to eat and they are strong. Just ask Sister K. And yes, they like to bite if you are not careful!

They are just magnificent creatures!

Still hungry!

Baby ostriches...they are still very large for being babies.

Just a random little squirrel running around the ostrich farm.

All done!

This is an actual fresh ostrich egg.

Look at the size of this thing!

Hope you enjoyed the ostrich farm tour because I sure did. Go see them the next time you are in Solvang!

Gadzooks you're making me feel old. When I was a kid, where Raging Waters and the Verizon Amphitheater are now used to be a zoo/amusement park called Lion Country Safari. You could drive around with wild animals all around. There was once section that had nothing but ostriches (as I recall) who would come up and peck the car windows for food....
