Everything But...

My blogging has been pretty sporadic lately but that has always been normal behavior for me especially during the summer when it is just so beautiful outside that the last thing I want to be doing is sitting inside blogging.

I had meant to start off my weekend with a long run but since I had ran pretty hard on Friday, I was still a little bit sore on Saturday morning so I decided to hit up the farmers market instead. Everything is currently available and plentiful. Lots of beautiful bright colors and I even found some Romenesco which aren't always available. I didn't pick some up this weekend since my fridge is packed to the gills but next week if they are still there, I am getting some for sure.

So instead of running, I played some tennis this weekend. I picked it up again a couple of weeks ago and am starting to get my groove back.

Speaking of getting my groove back...I've been playing more and more with Dance Central lately. It is definitely getting easier but I think I played with it too much this weekend because I woke up this morning and my glutes were really sore.

Finally, I went online last week looking to buy a new bike jersey and I wanted a Hello Kitty one but I wasn't able to find one. So I decided to design my own over at Eclipse Cycling. You basically get a starting template and you control almost all aspects of the design. When everything is the way you want it, they print it for you. This short sleeve jersey here runs for about $29.99. Pretty neat, right?

From Biking to Cupcake

Well I didn't go running this morning. Believe it or not my legs have been sore since Wednesday from doing wall-balls. I did about 150 reps using a 4-pound ball and I had a hard time walking down the stairs for the next two days. I haven't ran since Monday. So today, I took my bike out of the garage for the first time in a very long time. It had cobwebs all over it and I think it needs to be oiled. It was really windy and cold today but I managed to get in 17 miles.

Biking always makes me really hungry, so when I got home I ate some leftover chicken salad that I made the other night with some chopped apples, celery, chicken, walnut and light mayo. I had not blogged about this meal because I did not have time, plus this dish is pretty self explanatory. I made this dish as a challenge from Sister K. She challenged me to turn our Thanksgiving leftover chicken breast meat into a totally different meal. Challenge accepted! I got raves from the Mister for this salad. Now it it all gone!

A couple of hours later, we went out for a proper lunch at Side Street Cafe. I ordered the Lunch Special, which is soup and half of a sandwich. The soup of the day was Split Pea. This is my first split pea soup...ever! And I loved it! Nice chunks of carrots and ham but it would have been good all on it's own. The sandwich was just okay. I went with the Club which had turkey, ham and bacon. The bacon was good but I took out the ham and turkey because the ham was cold and the shredded turkey was really dry.

And since we were in the area we stopped by Susie Cakes where their bakers were busy bringing the holidays to life. Yummy edible life!

I did something unheard of, I got a mini instead of a regular size cupcake. I'm trying to be good. This was heavenly. It is just perfection!

Clipless Spin Shoes

I finally got around to taking some photos of my new spin shoes. So here they are...

...oops, I mean here!

This is what they look like on the bottom. The red part that looks like an electrical socket is the part that clips. I have to say that spinning with these feel so different than spinning with regular shoes. It feels more secure and you have more control. Kinda makes you feel one with the bike. These can also be used on a road bike should I feel inclined some where down the line. ;) I purchased these from Performance Bike. They are really knowledgeable, so even if you don't know much, they can help you figure it out.

Teddy wanted me to let you all know that he got a new green harness that he loves. I think he looks cute in it too!

What do you all have planned for the weekend? As for me, I think I've mentioned that next week is taper week so I am going to be taking it easy this weekend with the running. I might go out for a 4 mile run on Saturday. I think I failed to mention that I will be running the Laguna Hills Half Marathon on Memorial Day Monday. I ran this race last year and wanted to come back to see if I can do better. I guess I will consider this race my long run for this weekend. Things that I am looking forward to this weekend...farmers market, themed birthday party, half marathon and the start of my week-long vacation. Yay! I hope to be able to blog from the road during my vacation so stay tuned for that. Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
